FU MANCHU Sign With LIQUOR AND POKER MUSIC
June 5, 2006FU MANCHU singer/guitarist Scott Hill has posted the following message on the band's official web site:
"We signed a new deal with Liquor And Poker Music today [June 5, 2006]. We go into the studio next week. We will be recording 13 new songs and three cover songs. Not sure how many songs will make the final record. Covers: 'Moving in Stereo' [THE CARS], 'Who Are You' [VOID], 'D.O.A.' [VAN HALEN].
"We are recording at Grandmaster Recorders in hollywood. This is where we recorded 'In Search Of...' [1996] and 'The Action Is Go' [1997]. I'm trying to get one of my favorite singers to sign on a song or two as well.
"A new full-length CD and LP will be out early 2007. There might be a limited EP out at the end of 2006. Both Bob [Balch, guitar] and I have pulled out the old Fuzz pedals and old Marshall and Mesa Boogie amps. We will also be doing some smaller tours / shows through the rest of 2006.
"When the new record comes out, will will be touring everywhere. Possible reissues of some early (out-of-print) FU MANCHU records in the near future as well. Elastic Records looks like they might release the 'Something Beyond' release with three unreleased songs from that session soon. A DVD is also being talked about."
FU MANCHU's last CD, "Start the Machine", was released in September 2004. The follow-up to 2002's "California Crossing" (Mammoth) was produced by Brian Joseph Dobbs (VOIVOD, MANMADEGOD, DEATH ANGEL) and marked the group's first — and only — release for DRT Entertainment, the independent label founded in 2003 by senior music industry executives Derek Shulman, Ron Urban and Ted Green.
